Dubai has always been known for it’s impressive skyline, luxury hotels, giant malls and sandy beaches. It’s also becoming an attractive option as a host city for some fabulous destination weddings.
In March 2016, British businessman Surinder Arora’s son Sanjay, tied the knot with his fiance Raj in an extravagant 5-day celebration.
The Welcome Party kicked off festivities at the luxurious Jumeirah Zabeel Saray, followed by a special Sangeet night in the Bab Al Shams Desert Resort & Spa.
The evening turned magical, with the sounds of legendary Pakistani singer Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. The guests were treated to some of his famous Bollywood songs, along with other well known classics.
The focus then shifted to the Sikh Wedding Ceremony at the Dubai Gurdwara. The ‘Anand Karaj’ is the Sikh marriage ceremony (meaning ‘Blissful Union’) and was attended by close friends and family.
Dressed in traditional Indian attire by designer Suneet Varma, the Groom arrived on horseback along with his dancing procession called the ‘Baraat’.
Dubai-based hair & make-up artist Nina Ubhi, helped the Bride dress in a beautiful red and golden ensemble for her fairytale Wedding.
The Cocktail Party moved to Music Hall on the Palm Island, where the Bride and Groom arrived dressed in Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla wear. Legendry rock and roll star Sir Cliff Richard performed some of his greatest hits. The singer and hotelier Mr Arora are good friends.
The final day of this ‘Big Fat Indian Wedding’ culminated at Atlantis The Palm, where the gorgeous couple performed their first dance. The Bride wore a classic Sabyasachi Mukherjee outfit and the groom looked dapper in black.
Atlantis lived up to its reputation of grandeur and put up a grand show with exotic floral arrangements, tiny crystal installations for the sparkle, candles for the warmth, sheer curtains for the dreamy look and chandeliers to give that touch of richness. UK Planners DBZ Events Boutique were on hand to ensure everything was executed to perfection!
Bollywood singer Mika Singh took charge of the rest of the night, with the venue turned into a massive disco and the party continued till the late hours.
